Is it me extracting life from life…. Or, is it the life extracting life from me?

Is it me extracting life from life….

Or, is it the life extracting life from me?

 –Adding years to life and life to my years….

with flowing love of loving n loved;

Enriching, uplifting my soul…

in the wonderland of words, music n movies created by great minds;

Soaking up its beauty & serenity like a sponge….

in the lap of glorious nature;

And never the one to miss a serendipitous moment….

devouring the fleeting ones with all my senses!

 –The daily dose of chocolates n occasional wine-sipping,

The hedonist in my heart….

small sins n peccadilloes indulging,

Allowing none nor a moment to interfere….

the pleasures like a greedy child I keep stealing!

 –Consuming all its juices n every ounce of its nectar….

and exploring its glory n splendour wide n far,

Is it me extracting life from life ….

Or, is it the life extracting life from me?

 Is it me then, in Thoreau’s beautiful words:

“….to front only the essential facts of life,

and see if i could not learn what it had to teach,

and not, when i came to die, discover that i had not lived.

 ….to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life…

to cut a broad swath and shave close,

to drive life into a corner,

and reduce it to its lowest terms.”
